Purpose: Yaqut Mustasimī, a calligrapher of Safavid times, referred to the "Peacock Compound" in ancient literature, though information regarding ingredients varies with varying sources. This study will identify the useful constituents of plant use as protective agents in the Peacock Compound. And research question of this paper is that do materials used in the manufacture of the Peacock Compound render it durable, stable, and long-lasting, particularly when used on paper.
Method and Research Design: Data were collected through library-based research and analyzed using a descriptive-analytical approach.
Findings and Conclusion: The results show that some quantities of plants used in Peacock Ink, like saffron, henna, sap, gum Arabic, mazoo, mord, and others, are accountable for maintaining both the ink and the paper, as testified by several ancient references.
