Purpose: This paper intends to find ontologies which are used in the museum domain. In addition, this article aims at extracting ontology applications in the museum domain by studying researches in that domain.
Method and Research Design: The method of this research is the systematic review and contains two major parts: the first part is searching of researches in the museum domain, and the second part contains survey and analysis of research findings.
Findings and Conclusion: The result of this research shows that there are some ontologies in the museum domain. Besides the ontology have several applications in the museum domain. For example, information interoperability in museums, facilitating information access and retrieval. Furthermore, the results indicate that there is a research gap in the ontology for the museum domain in Iran. Because there are only two researches in the ontology in cultural heritage domain in Persian, which are related to the archaeology domain.
