Abstract

Amol is one of the ancient cities of Iran, whose history runs back to the eras before Islam. In this article an effort has been made to provide a brief history of this city and its conditions in different historical eras. It also introduces two important religious elements of this city, which are located in its historical district. These two elements are the Jame’ Mosque and the Aqa Abbas Mosque, which were each built together with a school and simultaneously function as mosques and schools. Relying on historical resources and itineraries, these two mosques are introduced, and according to waqf documents the situation of the endowments, endowers and their usage are specified in order to indicate their former status in Amol.
