Purpose: To answer the question whether the ousted Shah's regime was successful in achieving its goal by celebrating the so-called 2500th Anniversary of the Persian Empire. Method/Research Approach: Historical analysis using library and archival materials. Findings: A number of world media and leaders of admired the event, others criticized it. International Confederation of Iranian Students organized numerous actions around the world to express opposition. Nevertheless, it seems that the event and presence of world leaders in the event added to the prestige of the Shah.
