Abstract

Purpose: Early in the Pahlavi regime, the commercial activities of the foreign navy diminished in the region, but Bushehr’s trade trips to India and the Indian Ocean region were increased. Accordingly, the aim of this study is to investigate the reasons behind these trips and their termination.
Method and Research Design This research was written with historical method and descriptive-analytical method and with the help of archival documents and documents of National Records Organization of Iran, documents of Bushehr Chamber of Commerce, library sources and author's interview with old captains..
Finding and conclusion: The business trips of the people of Bushehr were a lasting legacy to meet the livelihood and needs of the region. Exports of dates and other goods to India and the need of the people living in the Persian Gulf for special wood in local architecture and shipbuilding and other essential supplies were the main reasons for these trips. Eventually, these trips were terminated with changing their procedure, the economic developments in the Persian Gulf countries and trade with these countries in the early 1972s.
